AMMO WG Teleconference Minutes – 6 Jan 2016
On 6 Jan, 2016 the Additive Manufacturing Maintenance Operations (AMMO) working group conducted a teleconference. A brief summary of the teleconference follows:
AMMO WG Focus Area Schedule
The 2016 schedule of AM focus areas was presented. These areas were selected/ranked by the AMMO WG members and will be discussed as a portion of the monthly AMMO WG meetings.
Nominate Projects for “Cross-Cutting Funding”.
Steve Morani, JCS J4, reviewed the JCS nomination process for “cross-cutting projects” and explained how they are funded. More than one project can be submitted, as they will compete against other submissions. Steve provided a template to the group immediately after the call.
Deloitte AM Training Brief
John Forsythe gave a brief titled “Use 21st Century Training Approaches to Reach Your Audience” where he described techniques such as immersive learning, virtual reality, and serious games learning. He also stated that it is not just about education and training, but about motivation and enthusiasm. He emphasized considering the whole talent lifecycle to include hiring, assignment, and rewards.
Group discussion observed that AM is already being taught in some DoD activities, but it is compartmentalized, and we need to bring it all together.
